MKV Support Dropped in Nxt 7? Roxio's MyDVD replaced by inferior Corel version

I recently upgraded to Creator NXT7 and suddenly MyDVD will not allow an MKV file to be burned onto a DVD.  Earlier versions most definitely did.  Is this a designed loss of functionality or an issue with my installation?

Have no idea why NXT7 won't play your MKV file but as a work around ----

Go on the internet and download the program "VLC". add your MKV file to it and there is an option

to convert it to an MP4 file. Then use that MP4 in your MyDVD.

If you recently 'upgraded' to Creator NXT 7 to use MyDVD for this purpose, I'm afraid you're going to be sadly disappointed.   While Roxio MyDVD handled this job very well, it was quietly replaced by Corel's MyDVD several seasons ago and the Corel version has a severely reduced functionality.

Corel's MyDVD will only take these files as input:

MKV and a number of other formats are conspicuously missing.

If you bought NXT 7 direct from Roxio within the last 30 days you can apply for a refund, but you should do that promptly.   If you are outside the time limit or bought the software somewhere else, you may have to convert your MKVs to another format such as MP4 as suggested by Redwagon, to use this lite MyDVD version.

First time to use NXT7 today to create a slideshow and burn as a DVD video.

I'm totally disappointed with MyDVD. Editing titles/chapter names/etc are done in several places. I tried changing the background photo in the menu but I am unable to undo it. The other thing that really surprised me is unable to add a dmsm file as an input.

Corel's "MyDVD" is a mere shadow of the old Roxio version.
