Easy Media Creator 8 causing bootup problems?

DRCS

Question

I have been using EMC8 to capture DVD video, edit out portions and try to consolidate several into one DVD movie. I've used it on my old PC and now on my new PC.

The program crashes often. After several crashes I started having boot problems on the old and now the new machine. It takes longer to boot and I end up with only the wallpaper and the cursor. I can only CTL-ALT-DEL to the task manager and restart several times until I finally get the desktop and icons to populate the screen.

Anyone else experience this problem? I crash a number of programs, but it seems to me like EMC8 is the culprit.

Also, after I retired to old machine to a card game PC for my wife, it finally seems to have healed itself and boots normally, now.

Thanks,

My old car was a Sony with: Pentium 4 2.8GHz, 512mg mem, XP Home SP2.

My new car is an HP VIIV 2.13GHz, 2Gig mem, XP Pro, Media Edition 2005 SP2.

The configurations were packaged type.

I have Norton AV and ran all check for Malware & Viruses. Have Norton Utilities and ran all diagnostics. I've tried to keep all drivers current on the old and the new "car" is current. I don't think too many programs at start up doesn't seem to be the problem. I turned off Media Manager immediately after installation of both machines. As for the OS, what other is there than MS?

Two packet writing programs on that PC? Two will conflict as they both try to take over control of your burner. Look for InCD, Drag2 Disc, Bee's, etc. A lot of people who get new PC's know they are loaded with lite or only partial functioning versions of a lot of software - 10% of their hard drive or more. They remove all that junk and start fresh. You might want to try cleaning up some of that garbage.

Malware, virus, too many programs open at start-up, old video and audio drivers, old version of DirectX, does not meet the system specifications (since you didn't post any computer specs. wrong OS sorry, I had to throw that in)? Sort of like saying my car doesn't start and saying it is the one in the parking lot when hundreds of others out there :)

Turn off Media Manager, watched folders. This can be a resource hog at start up. You could also limit the watched folders to media folders if you like that feature.

Linux, and it sounds like your cars may need a mechanic. :)
