Question

Need some advice on how to open some older .dvd project files with MyDvd Creator v9 Premier. Here is an example screen shot of an archived folder.

Hello,

There were a number of V9 softwares in the field around 2006 onwards, but I don't know of a "MyDvd Creator v9 Premier".   Can you tell me exactly what the software is that you're running, please?  Then I can see if I have it and if I can help you.

With the software running, at the top of the main menu you should see a Help button. Clicking that should give you options which include "About this Software".  Selecting that should bring up a Roxio box with your software details, like this:

about.jpg.9fb3b483d8b2236a6bb421ecd915d30e.jpg   Would you tell me please, the Name in full, Version, and build that is shown on yours?

Lastly, which operating system are you running it in, please?

Regards, Brendon

With what program did you create the "older" project files?

It seems that your " Roxio Creator & MyDVD 9.0 Premier. " simply does not recognize those old files. myDVD project files have the extension "dmsd"

The Sonic application came pre-configured on an HP Multimedia box I purchased on the early 2000's.

I was hoping that the 9.0 Premier would be backward compatible, but alas no.

Are you aware of the last Roxio or Sonic version supports.dvd files?

That would be an HP version only.

Have you checked with HP if it is available today to download?

A PC from 2000 would now have an older operating system and your Roxio Creator Premier Version: 9.0.116 may not run on todays OS?

I'm talking about the  Sonic application that came pre-configured on your HP Multimedia box you purchased in the early 2000's.

That seems to be the program you need?

Isn't it the program you used to make the video files?

The program runs with no problem, just the error of the file type.

Roxio Creator Premier Version: 9.0.116 will not recognize that .dvd extension. As far as I know, no video program from the last 10 years accepts that extension

Pretty hard not to see what the problem is, accepting it seems to me to be the problem.

I've spent a day on this.  Got Roxio Creator 9.0.117 DE installed under Windows 10, and everything seemed to run except MYDVD.  When called this program showed a notice about profiling the video card, but when I clicked the OK it paused for a few seconds and then went back to the Home menu.

I got Creator Premier 9.1.573 installed on another machine, and everything seemed to work except MyDVD.  This one showed me the profiling message once, and then every time I tried to run MyDVD the Home menu would blink out for about 5 seconds but MyDVD would not run.   I got that same result on three different machines with different video cards, so I don't think the video cards are at fault.

So, sorry but if I can't run this version of MyDVD under Windows 10, I can't help you.

Brendon
