Audio editing help

kokomo

Question

I am trying to edit an audio clip so that it fades out when a video clip with sound begins. I have been unable to make the audio fade out in order to hear what is being said on the video. Is it possible to keep an audio clip running softly behind the video? If not, I want to fade the audio clip out and end it so that the video clip can be heard. I then want to start a different audio clip after the video stops. I am using My DVD to do this.

Thank you! A picture was worth a thousand words. Now, if I can figure out how to remove the middle portion of an audio clip..........

You can remove whatever portion that you want in Sound Editor. I only recommend using that for editing sound files, because I have used it many many times.

When you use it, you don't click on save to save the edited sound file. You have to click on Export, and then pick a place on your hard drive that you want it stored and the type of file you want it saved as.

You are going to have a hard time doing it in that function. Use VideoWave and add the music to the music track. Make sure that you are in timeline and showing the native audio. Click on the music track at the point where you want to silence the music track. Now click right next to it to get another circle and drag that circle down. Repeat at the other end where you want the music to pick up and drag that third circle up.

I think you can see it on this image.
