video capturen/loading issues

daroach88

Question

Hello all,

I just stumbled across my old Roxio easy vhstodvd video capture device I bought yrs & yrs  ago & never used. contacted Roxio for software because I could find the disc.

was given link for roxioeasyvhstodvdplus. this downloaded but would not load to PC running edge. message "java script disabled. please turn on the IE setting or allow JS running to complete the installation". I tried to do it, couldn't. Downloaded java from oracle site. no luck. I ended up finding the original disc with serial # & loading it. seemed to run but no Video showing when I try to capture.

either version of the software is fine, I could just use some help getting either to run.

Your old software came with a USB Capture Device so does the newer version Roxio Easy VHS to DVD plus.

My guess is your using W-10 with the old capture device and it is the problem?

Several folks have posted here and described your situation and they too were using the old capture device on W-10.

Old on the left new on the right, what one are you using?

Thanks cdanteek,

I am using the one on the right. So I have the newest device? VHS to DVD 3 Plus is the disc that came with it. But on the desktop after I load it, simply called Roxio easy "vhs to dvd 3"

The disc itself says vhd to dvd 3 plus. the software on my desktop from the dvd says "Roxio vhs to dvd 3"(Not plus). in the name.

But I noticed the software downloaded from the link Roxio rep gave me downloads as roxiovhstodvdplus. slightly different versions.

I was hoping there was newer software because I bought this a number of years ago.

So I assumed the newest software to work with capture device & on windows 10 would be the best. I was able to download it & it I sitting on my desktop

but when I try to launch/install it says Java script is disabled. please turn on the IE settings or allow java script to complete the installation. I would love to. I don't know how to do either. I have been trying for days.

lots of web pages were open. do I need to close them?

If you are trying to "launch/install" the software with" lots of web pages were open" I think that is your " java script " error!

Things I do before installation, in this order. Disable  User Account Control (UAC), clean all cache, cookies, private data, clear history, delete the temp file contents (start run %temp%), run disc clean up, empty the recycle bin. Reboot the PC, close all unnecessary running programs, disconnect from the internet and turn off / stop antivirus and firewall software. Now I'm ready to install the software.

Thank you.

I actually opened a brand new pc today. Only thing was I had to connect to internet to actually d/l the application. I had the icon on the desktop but that just launches the load. I installed the d/l version. I had no idea the file was so big. everything loaded and at last minute I got an error. Didn't see the prog in add/remove to try repair. Gave up & tried to install from the above disk. didn't work had the flashing moving windows before the program loaded and gave options and I have to head out
