godawgs
I just updated to SP2. The ECDC program works fine as far as I can tell. Burned a music CD yesterday. My question is: Does installing SP2 to Windows automatically include Windows Media Player Series 9? After the update I was checking everything I could, to see if there were any problems, and when I clicked on the desktop icon for WMP, a set-up wizzard for WMP series 9 came up. And since I didn't download or install any WMP updates or upgrades before I added SP2 (and there were a lot of others), did SP2 add this? I didn't continue with the Set-up because I didn't know if setting up WMP 9 would kill ECDC 5.3.5.10. Will completing the set-up do that or has WMP 9 already been installed and this set-up is simply to configure the settings? Also, I don't find Windows Media Player in Control Panel Add/Remove Programs. There is a Viewpoint Media Player (Remove Only)(with the red and yellow round circle and a black arrow inside, indicating Windows, before it. There are also two updates. One is "Security Update for Windows Media Player 8" (KB917734) and "Security Update for Windows Media Player" (KB911564). They were both installed on the same day as the SP2 update was done, but I don't remember installing them separately. Any information would be appreciated. Lastly, I think Easy Media Creator 7 or 7.5 is compatable with SP2. And I think either one requires WMP 9.0 or above for the Napster part of the program which indicates that those programs would be compatable with WMP. Would I be better off just doing away with 5.3.5.10 and installing EMC 7 or 7.5? Thanks JC

I just installed SP2 and EDCD 5 still seems to work. At least the music project part did when I made a music CD a day or so after the SP2 install/update. One of the questions was, when SP2 changed my WMP to version 9, did that change everything that could have broken ECDC 5 or will running the WMP 9 Set-up Wizzard do something that could break ECDC 5? If I decide to install EMC 7, (the only thing on the new version that I would use at this point would be the Label Maker), or if running the WMP 9 Set-up Wizzard does something to ECDC 5, should I uninstall ECDC 5? I asked the last question because I saw a post somewhere that that led me to believe that installing ECDC 5 over SP2 had worked for some people, but uninstalling after SP2 would be a problem. Actually I can't be 100% certain (I haven't had v5 on a machine for years) but if it's working, I doubt that if running the WMP9 setup will have any real effect (it's there already) To play safe - back up anything critical (label art and so on) as jpg rather than as the default settings so they can be re-used. 7 should be fine - but be advised that IE 7 can break that (and MS have decided for some odd reason that IE 7 is a 'critical' update to XP) Actually - so long as you don't install Drag to Disc - 7 will install alongside 5 (and both shopuld work)
