I want a refund

weegiegrum

Question

Please excuse me if I have a bit of a rant here.

I bought the Creator NX7 4 months ago, purely because I was looking for a decent DVD authoring software. Since then, I have tried on 3 or 4 occasions to create and burn DVDs of some talks that I've given - all without success. Usually I get the 'Burner state encoding title' error, which from forum posts seems pretty common; sometimes the program just crashes without explanation. Now, after wasting another 3 or 4 hours on my latest attempt, it's refusing to load the saved file, claiming that it can't find a particular blue bitmap background.

This is, without a doubt, one of the clunkiest, poorly designed, poorly supported, bug-ridden pieces of commercial software that I have ever come across. At a rough estimate, I have wasted well over 24 hours of my life trying to get this PoS to work, and I've had enough. The software is not fit for purpose, and I would like a refund please.

Hello Grahame,

I'm not sure why you put your message in the NXT6 forum, but to be helpful I've moved it here for you.  :)

This forum is run by software users for software users, and we don't often see a Roxio representative come through.   If you want to try for a refund you need to approach the people you bought the software from.    Nobody here can get a refund for you.    Roxio has a 30-day refund policy for software you buy from them, so you might find you're out of time for that.

We other users will gladly help you with any technical problems we can answer.

Regards, Brendon

Hi

I've had problems myself in the past (not that many to be honest) and there's always been someone like Brendon on here to help me out.
Give that a go if you do decide to keep the software as you never know there might be an easy answer.

I know it's not the right place to be posting this, I just wanted to vent. It was the 3rd piece of software that I'd purchased to author DVDs, and they all proved lacking. I have now, after much searching, found a freeware solution that does what is expected of it with no fuss, and I'm happy using that.

I'll go away now... 🕵️‍♂️

Hi

No, don't go away. Not before you tell us what free software you found that does what you need. I find I have to use different programmes for different jobs as they all seem to have their problems you need to overcome. Sharewareonsale has Ashampoo Burning Suite for free this week and they did have the pro version of Burnaware for free last week.

It's good to talk.....

It's called DVD-lab. The free version looks a bit clunky but is easy enough to use if you follow the tutorial. There's a Premium version too if you want to go HD.
