I realize this is going to sound ridiculous but I am trying to make a Memorial Slideshow for my mother and I think this is way over my head. I thought it would at least come with a user booklet on step by step but all i get are drop downs filed with info i am not even sure what some words are. I have a file of pics on my desktop. I put them in Video wave and edited half because it cut me off at 79 pics ....??? So there is that. Can not figure where to go next to burn. Should i have put them into the coral to edit first?? And then where do i go from there? Is there somebody i can talk to to help me with this? I am feeling very stupid about this whole thing and i do not have much time left. My mom is leaving soon and i need help. Can anyone help me?

EDIT - Removed email address so spambots won't harvest it!

I am by far an expert on this but I did try and make one. This is how I did it with success even though it took some time.

Start from NXT8 Home screen and choose Create Slideshow.

When it opens hit the + sign and add your pics, either by file or by folder.Once added make sure and select All so that all pics have check marks.

Next hit Create below the pics. It'll do it's thing and get things ready.

When that finishes hit Export at bottom of box. When it finishes choose Open in Videowave.

VideoWave will open with your Project loaded.Make any adjustments from Left pane you choose.

When you're done click on Prepare for Authoring above the video window(little symbol that says DVD).

Choose your options in next window. If you choose DVD make sure you have NTSC or PAL correctly selected.

Once The .dmsm file is created and videowave finishes, close it and open MyDVD.

Add your .dmsm file that was created, make any option adjustments you choose and then hit Burn.

You should end up with a viewable DVD of your slideshow.

I was able to add 440 jpegs to my project.I burned 2 different discs,1 DVD and 1 AVCHD format. Both played back in my pc.

I know this was long but it's how I was successful.

Maybe someone more experienced can chime in with a better way.

Also,  there are several "How to" videos on YouTube.  Just search for Roxio.  Start with 8 and if you still can't get something covering 8., look for previous versions.  Not all things are carried over from previous versions to the latest.

cdanteek, thanks. I guess I didn't fully read it .I just assumed it was about the photos.  I didn't know I had to select NTSC or PAL. Is that why I can only put 4- 20 minute movies on a dvd?  I used to be able to put about 9 or 10- 20 minute movies on a dvd when I used Creator 10 Suite.

I guess that's where I'm stuck, I can add 4 videos to a dvd, but that's it.  It doesn't let me add any more to it.

Amy, this topic was on creating a slideshow. A movie DVD is a different animal. That's totally going on how much time those videos are using and how much will fit on a DVD.

I'm sure cd can explain this much better than I can.

ok, I kind of figured you were talking about a slideshow.

I am becoming so frustrated with this program, it's just crazy!!!   I just can't understand how I could burn 9 - 20 mpg vids on creator 10,, but on NXT PRO 8, I can only burn 4 mpg vids.  Using the same dvds, same size, 4.7g.  Maybe creator 10 changed the format along the way somewhere that I didn't notice????  sigh,,,,,,,

On creator 10, I was able to burn about 9 of the 20 minute videos.  On creator NXT PRO 8, I am only able to put about 4 of the 20 minute videos on.  They are in an MPG file format. A 42 minute video is 1.81 GIG.  I don't see any other setting to change them to be able to burn more than 4 videos on a dvd.  I am burning the dvd's to be able to play on a dvd player.

I also don't see a way on the program to add more than 4 videos to a dvd either.

Sorry, feeling pretty computer illiterate here.  I feel like I should have gotten something a little more simpler!

The number of videos you can burn to a DVD is basically irrelevant. It is the total amount of time of those videos that is important. Assuming you want the best quality for your video, then you can only burn about 60 minutes of video to a DVD.

You are not giving much information on your project. Exactly what process are you doing when you create the DVD? Are you creating a menu?

I don't think you were able to burn 9  videos (each 20 minute long) to a DVD using Creator 10 unless you chose the lowest quality video.

Easy Media Creator 10 had a full-featured Roxio version of  MyDVD which allowed you to vary the quality of your product so that you could squish more time onto a DVD.

Creator NXT 8 has a very limited version of Corel MyDVD which does not allow you to make these adjustments in quality.  All you can change is the size of your target disc,  so you are stuck with the one setting and the results you are now seeing.  :(  There is no way to make MyDVD behave like the earlier version.

binicher, it's difficult to get in depth as to what I'm doing/looking for. Sorry.

Brendon, Thanks, that clears it up a little more for me. Kind of stinks tho.  I thought by "upgrading" the software, I'd have more options.

I have another question, so when I add my videos to make my dvd, it doesn't allow me to change any font size or text on the main page of the dvd where it shows the video titles.  (I think I'm just so used to Creator 10)  The red box appears around the title when I click on it, and I can move it, but can't make it smaller or larger.  In some cases, my title is too large, it's cut off.

Sorry, same answer: Creator NXT 8 has a very limited version of Corel MyDVD which does not allow you to make these adjustments.

Many of us were dismayed when the owners made this change, but they don't discuss these changes with us software users.
