Easy Media Creator 7 Questions

mgmsr

Question

I just ordered an internal dvd drive Plextor PX 760ASWBL which comes with Easy Media Creator 7. My questions are: My computer came with Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 and VideoWave Movie Creator. Do I need to uninstall them before putting EMC 7 on? Can I install the COMPLETE version of EMC7 WITHOUT napster? Will I be able to properly upgrade to Roxio's newest Media Creator 9 ?

The DVD burner I ordered should be here in a couple days. (with EMC 7 Basic included) I hope I will have the option to upgrade to 7.5 to get the features not available in EMC 7 Basic. Thanks again...I'll keep you posted

Can I download the upgrade to 7.5 from Roxio's website?

No, not for the basic version. Only for the retail 7.5. version.

I would agree with ml on this one. If you are wanting to do a lot of different things with a single program, just purchase EMC 9. It will have everything you will most likely need. But as ml suggested it might take a little longer to learn and check the requirements before you buy.

Frank....

I have Windows XP Home Service pack 2 Pentium 4, 2.53 GHz 2.52 GHz, 512 Mb RAM 112 gig hard drive. This computer came with Easy CD Creator 5 and VideoWave Movie Creator ALREADY INSTALLED on it. Will I have to uninstall it before putting something else on? If I decide to use EMC 7 basic, How will I be able to upgrade the missing features?

Your Easy CD Creator 5 runs with the SP2 installed? :) It haven't seen anyone to get it to work.

Hmmm..... I thought I answered that one.

You DO NOT have to uninstall V 5 and Movie Creator in order to install EMC7 Basic.

As to upgrading EMC7 Basic...... they are now on version 9. First, see if you need any of the missing features. Then see if the program came with any options to upgrade. If it doesn't, consider buying the full version of 7, 8 or 9. Version 7 is no longer being updated, so version 9 might be the best choice IF your computer meets the specifications (compatable video card, etc.)

I haven't used version 5, but now that I'm getting this dvd burner, with BASIC 7 version included, I'm trying to get any info I can on BASIC 7 to determine if its good enough to go ahead and install it or just get a newer version.. what are your thoughts...

No. You do not need to install version 5 or Movie Creator. However, you might want to consider NOT installing Drag to Disk because it might conflict with the previous version. (Some consider it not very reliable in writing data either.)

You are probably not going to be able to use a rebate to upgrade to version 9 because the version that came with your drive is an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) version. However, version 9 is on sale in many stores. The computer requirements for version 9 video editing and dvd burning are higher than that for version 5 and 7, so read carefully before you buy.

Well, there isn't a single BASIC version with a set of things turned off or on. It all depends on what the drive manufacturer decides to include/exclude. So there really isn't any way for us to list what you will get with yours. You could always uninstall it if it doesn't do what you need it to, then get a full retail version and install that.

I haven't installed version 7 yet. Maybe I should get the newest version 9 and just install it. Do you have any preference between version 7 basic and version 9? Advantages/disadvantages?? Thanks for your reply

I'm still using version 7 because version 9 would cause my computer to slow to a crawl for video editing.

Version 9 has a lot more features but it also takes longer to learn.

However, you have EMC 7 BASIC and you're going to find that some of the features are not available.

What are your computer's specifications? Does it exceed the requirements listed here ?

About the only way you will get EMC 7.5 is from e-Bay, and that is a "buyer beware" thing.
