No drives

Question

I cannot get any drives recognized. I have 2 drives. 1 is a Memorex 16 DDL internal with latest firmware ( Updated today). The other is a HP 840i but on device manager it reads 840d. I have tried the Sonic Patch as well as turning on & off the RXfilter. After all this it will still not recognise them. Any ideas. Colin :)

By Sonic patch, do you mean the pxengine fix? Are the drives recognized by Windows? First, go into device manager and remove both drives then reboot. Then see if they are working.

Please list your system specs as well as any other cd/dvd writing software you have installed.

To clear things up for the HP-840i drives - it seems they come in 3 flavors. 840b, 840x and 840d.

840b = LG GSA-4166B

840x = LG GSA-H20L

840d = Lite-On SHM-165H6S

HP doesn't make drives. They buy them from drive makers like LG and LiteOn and rename them.
