If you bought the software other than direct from Roxio, e.g. at Best Buy or some other retailer, I have been told that it has to be "activated at the register" when you buy it. It's likely that the clerk has missed some step in the cumbersome procedure. In any event, you'll need to go back to the place you bought it and get them to fix it. (Don't show your CD key to everybody, because Corel has limited the number of times it can be used to install the software and anybody else could then use "your" installs.)
