Using their software button VHS to DVD, I am able to hear AUDIO and see VIDEO from my VHS tapes in PREVIEW window. Once I start the RECORDING process everything seems to go fine. HOWEVER, upon playing the DVD in any player there is NO AUDIO.
I can tell you that the result is the same from one PC to another PC. I tried using a newer Windows 11 (HP) laptop with plenty of onboard disc RAM and system RAM. I also employed a "years (?) old" Dell Inspiron 15 Laptop with Windows 7 (not updated to Win 8 or above). Note: I had tons of operational errors with the win11 laptop. Reverting back to the Win7 laptop, operationally, was much better outcome: long load times but the ROXIO product is stable and seems to work as stated.
Connections: Limited by my 1995 Hitachi VCR, I used only the YELLOW video cable and the RED and WHITE audio composite cables into the ROXIO VHS to DVD 3 device. Yes, there is some jumpiness (tracking) from the VCR or TAPES I've used. Can't blame the new technology for old equipment issues. In this sense, I found that video quality to be adequate.
A couple of things I DID NOT LOOK AT YET: Possibly, there is a setting within Windows audio hardware settings (AUX IN, AUX OUT, RECORDING volume, playback volume, etc) that I may need to turn on or off? I recall these settings from a Legacy video capture device I purchased moons ago (think Win95).
Other than the above, I can't think of any other option short of recording video to hard drive or usb drive FIRST. * Have not attempted that because once I had the device working I wanted to try/experiment FIRST. THE REVIEWS for this product are NOT GREAT.
I'm willing to hear any tips and am more than happy to share info on the hardware I used.
