Rec files back to jpg files, help please,

Snake

Recommended Posts

Had a bad cd with 500 meg of jpgs on it and somehow it got corrupted when i was dragging files to the drag to disc in roxio 805.

Ran roxio scan with the original corrupted disc (cd-r) in my dvd drive and a blank cd-r in my cd drive.

When everything had finished I had a new disc of pic(jpg's) that had changed to rec files.

How can I change these back to jpg files?

Help :-)

Thanks

You can't rename them on the CD, so you need to copy them to the hard drive, rename them all back to JPG on the hard drive, and then copy them to a fresh CD.

If you don't like the idea of manually renaming over 500 .REC files, try this simple alternative. Let's assume you've put the REC files into a folder called C:\recovery.

Go to Start, Run and type CMD <enter> you'll be in a command window

type CD\recovery <enter>

then type REN *.REC *.JPG <enter>

type exit <enter> and the CMD window should close.

Your 500+ files should all be JPGs again.

DOS WILL live forever. :) I have a shortcut to CMD on my desktop.
