Creating a Photo Slide Show - Burning to DVD

dovbniak

Question

I am brand new to creating DVDs using EMC 8 and am having some trouble. I can create a slide show using the Slide Show application.

I can then burn to disk and use the DVD Express application to burn a dvd. The new dvd works great on my pc (I can use Windows Media Player, WinDVD Player etc) and there are no problems.

However, when I try to use the dvd on my panasonic dvd player to run on my TV, the dvd player cannot read the dvd. It just spins, and spins. :)

Am I missing something? Aren't you supposed to be able to create dvds to play on dvd players?

Thanks for any and all help!

Thank you sknis;

You were bang on about the player. I tried it on my other dvd player in my house, a cheap Magnavox and it runs beautifully. I am going to try your other suggestions as well.

BTW, the dvd is +RW so just for the heck of it, I am going to try + and - R just to see what happens.

Again,

Many thanks!

If it plays on your computer chances are that your DVD player doesn't like the type of disc you are using. It could be that a dash R (-R) will work if you are using a plus R (+ R) or vice versa. Many won't play RW discs and some will just not play any home burned discs. If you live near a electronic store you might take the disc there an try out several. Go for the cheap ones; they don't seem to be as finicky. If you get it to play, then it would tend to confirm that the burn was good.

You might try encoding the project to an iso file (image) with everything else unchecked. Once the project is encoded, COPY the iso file to a blank using Creator Classic or Disc Copier. Select a slower speed to write to that blank. This sometimes gives a disc that some players will play where they would not play a disc burned directly.
