installation request: "Please insert the disk:" with no disk name

cdk

Question

During installatioin of EMC 9, I'm getting a request to "Please insert the disk:" with no disk name. I have both disks in the drives and repeatedly click OK but keep getting the same message. I have to cancel and it rolls back the install. I am not able to install the program. This is a second install attempt after the initial installation locked up. Any thoughts how to get beyond that message?

Try with just the program disc in.Install the program, reboot your machine and then install the content disc.

Thanks for your reply Terry, but I tried repeatedly with only the program disk and always got the same request "Please insert the disk:" part way through the install (actually quite a ways into it). That's when I put in the content disk just to give it a try.

So I am not able to install from the program disk. I've rebooted a couple times with the same result.

Thanks in advance for any other ideas!

When it asks to insert disc does it also say it's looking for a particular file?

No, there is no disk name, no file name, no browse button. It's a standard request box with caption:

"Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 Suite Installer Information"

with an exclamation icon, with text:

"Please insert the disk:"

With nothing after that but the two buttons: OK and Cancel.

I *think* my previous locked-up installation, followed by a locked-up uninstall, messed things up. I've tried the "Windows Install Clean Up" utility as described in the Knowledge Base, but the EMC application does not appear on its list. However I checked the registry and I have numerous Roxio keys.

Maybe my question should be: How might I clean off the partial installation when "Windows Install Clean Up" does not locate it and I can't re-install?

Ok,to try and clean up first go to Control Panel and use Add/Remove programs.Once you do that then run Roxizap which will clean up remnants left over.If you have a registry cleaner run that once you run the other 2.Then try and do your install again.

You can get Roxizap here:Roxizap

If following Terry's last suggestion doesn't help, then try copying the files from the install CD's to a folder on your harddrive and run the install form there. That seems to have helped someone else with that issue.

SUCCESS! Thank you Terry and Larry.

FYI - I ended up doing all three steps before it worked:

1. roxizap.exe

2. Registry cleanup.

3. Copying installation disk files to hard drive and running from there.

I tried a reinstall after step 2 with no luck (though the reg cleanup was long overdue, thanks for the nudge). I got the same "Please insert the disk:" message. However it worked great after step 3.

Thank you again!

We had the exact same problem, along with the CD key not being read. We solved both problems with this fix and another on this site. Many thanks to all
