HELP For a Real Dummy

noopara

Question

The reason I bought Roxio is to edit some old movies from VHS tapes. I've made my first one by capturing the video from my VCR which made a mpg file. Now I am now trying to edit it. When I launch Videowave (video editor) it doesn't give me a choice to edit a mpg file. How can I do this?

I'm dummer than dirt on this stuff at this point. This is my first go at video editing.

thx -- greg

Hi Greg,

I am not sure what type of editing you want to do, but to get you started:

1. Open Videowave, select the timeling view, and the click Show Media Selector

2. Navigate to where you saved the MPEG file and drag it to the video track

3. From there you can split the video and delete unwanted portions, change the color, edit the native audio (if any), etc.

Obviously, those are some very brief steps to get you going. From that point, I suggest you read the help files and just experiment until you learn how to do the editing you want.

Hope that gets you started.

OK! - That helps -- Thanks alot.

I was able to get the mpg file into the timeline. Now how can I edit frames in the movie, delete frames in the movie, etc etc?

Hi again, Greg

Yes you can delete portions of the video. With the video on the video track, play the video (or drag the blue vertical line) to the beginning of the portion you want to delete. Use the Previous/Next Frame buttons in the preview window to get the exact location you want. Then, right click and select Split. Now, play the video to the end of the section you want to delete, right click and select split again. Point the mouse to the section to be deleted between the two splits, right click, and select Delete. That portion of the video should be deleted.

Note, you cannot split just one frame of a video. A minimum of 10 frames need to be selected in order to split.

Again, I think you would benefit by reading the help files. They provide good basic instruction to help with performing most tasks.

Hope that helps
