Lefty2053
Just bought this junk software, wont install and the support here is lacking to say the least. Tried all the tips on installing and nothing works. Contacted support and they wanted me to create a Web ticket, All ready did that but it doesn't show up. He had me do another one and it doesn't show up and now my access to that support site doesn't work. Looks like this company likes you to buy their software and leaves you hanging there as long as they get their cash in hand. ROXIO ! Customer service here PLEASE! Very unhappy with this junk you sell. "Cannot Initialize API" is the error report and I did copy and paste all lines to my Run command. The program has me restart the PC 3 times after installing. Then it just doesn't work and tells me to reinstall the software.

Try this first: Uninstall/re-install Go into your add/remove programs and remove Roxio.......then use this Roxio utility called Roxizap that you can use to remove all remnants of Roxio/Adaptec software for you. Caution, it may also remove registry entries for GoBack, so if you have that installed, uninstall it first, then re-install after running roxizap. You can get roxizap here: http://tools.roxio.com/support/tools/roxizap.exe Then re-install from your installation disc. If you require any updates make sure you apply the correct one, Basic or Platinum. If that does not help you, go into the search (top right on this page) and type in cannot initialize api there are a few post's in there that has other possible fixes. John at Roxio
While I understand your frustration with submitting a web ticket, these forums are here for just the problem you have. If one support avenue does not work for you, just use another. The people here are friendly and their answers and suggestions are often just as good as ours. And does this program remove all entries of Sonic Record Now?
lynn98109
And does this program remove all entries of Sonic Record Now? Roxizap was written over a year before Roxio's name and software were purchased by Sonic from the company formerly known as Roxio. (The company formerly known as Roxio had purchased the name and software for Napster, and subsequently renamed itself Napster.) Therefore, it shouldn't do anything to a Sonic program from prior to the merger. (The reason I believe RecordNow 7 was before the merger is I have a copy of RecordNow 7 Deluxe, aquired just after the merger, when Sonic was getting rid of old stock. It is on the WinXP SP2, and runs quite well.) HOWEVER, if you have Sonic's DLA installed, DO NOT install Drag2Disc - the two Packet-Writing programs will fight for the burner. Used the program and now after installing Easy CD and DVD Burning software, I get the message that :Disc Copier Could not detect any supported Recorders. In other words it wont work with my DVD drive, is that correct? If so shouldn't I be intitled to a refund from Roxio? I tried downloading the Extra drives also and it still wont work. james_hardin
Go into Hardware Manager (Control Panel) and expand the CD/DVD Devices. Tell us what make/model you have and check the properties to see if any error messages are present. You also mentioned having Sonic RecordNow. Is that still installed?
