Launch from dock

big band

Question

I've just upgraded to Toast 7.1.2. It works OK, but it's awkward. I opened the new Toast file, clicked on thew Toast icon and placed it on the dock. With 7.0 it was simple enough to click on the dock icon and get the screen I needed to start importing files. But with this icon I get the whole file that I downloaded as an upgrade, and I have to click on the Toast icon within that file in order to launch what I used to do so simply with 7.0. Furthermore, when I exit Toast, I find that there's an icon on my desktop labeled "Toast 7 update v7.1.2. When I trash it, it reappears the next time I use Toast.

Of course, if I don't trash it, I can click on it and then click on the Toast icon included within. But that's two steps instead of one.

What am I doing wrong?

It sounds like you have the downloaded file in the dock. Open up the image file, and copy the toast folder to your applications folder. Double click it to make sure it launches. Then once it is running, left click (if you have a 2 button mouse, control-click if you have a one button) on the icon for it and choose "keep in dock".
