Roxio Creator LE - I'm baffled!

Rob Davies

Question

Hello. I recently bought a new Dell PC which has something called Roxio Creator LE installed on it. I have used it once (successfully) for saving data to a DVD-RW but I am baffled by some things:

1) I have to make a data disk in one go. If I try to add more files later it asks if I want to erase the disk first. If I click No it ejects the disk.

2) If I try to use the DLA function it asks me to format the disk. I put a blank DVD-RW disk in and it won't format it.

3) Roxio Creator LE doesn't seem to be mentioned on the Roxio website. I don't understand why this is the case. That's why I've resorted to this forum to ask about my problems.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the reasion its not here, is that you have to go to Dell for the support issues you have.

As this version was made just for them, and Dell support manage this product.

sorry :huh::):D

But Dell do not provide FREE software support - you have to pay for it!

They only provide free hardware support even though this program is a special Dell version.

However you could try the following;-

1. Create a restore point.

2. Uninstall all the Sonic and Roxio programs (from add remove programs)

3. Restart your computer

4. Reinstall from the CD (if you dont have already this ask Dell to supply you with one - they did this for me free of charge).

From My Computer right click on the drive icon.

Select Properties. There should be a DLA tab and from this an option to use DLA which you should check if it is not already checked.

It should now be possible to format or reformat an RW CD using DLA (it can take about 30 minutes).

After that is should then be possible to use Windows Explorer with Copy and Paste or Drag and Drop to add, update, rename or delete files - just as if the CD were a very large floppy.

The best way to do what you're doing is to use Creaor Classic and make a sessions based disc instead of using DLA.It's easier and much safer when it comes to keeping the data. Also no disc formatting is required.
