Question

It would be great if Roxio would put some effort into their upgrades since they are charging almost $100 for their upgrades unless you count their rebates. Reduced prices for upgrades shouldn't have to come in the form of rebates. I had problems with the 8.0 install and was online with them numerous times and it still doesn't work correctly. I know I won't purchase another upgrade. I bought the last upgrade in June and to dish out another $100 is foolish. Plus, if EMC 9.0 is as bloated as 8.0 was, it will be a real dog on most systems.

Bloated??? Some don't think it includes enough!

Use the Custom install and install what you want.

Know any automakers with a good upgrade policy?

Their upgrade policies are not out of line. I bought one MS package for $350 and the next upgrade was offered for only $299. A little webbing and I found it for $200.

Perhaps you should have spent some of the $$ on upgrading/fixing your computer problems. Since you didn't post anything about that, I'm guessing that Roxio told you that and you didn't believe them. I have seen the following more than once " I have a x month old computer so it should work OK. the problem is the software". In a way, yes. Taking it to an extreme, most new software today won't work on a Windows 95/98 computer. This one doesn't work well on anything but 2000 SP 4, XP SP2 or MCE with a reasonable video card/chip. I'm not saying that you have the wrong OS, just that not all computers will run the program well. My guess is that you have an on-board video chip that needs to be upgraded.

Now if you have a question or problem, please post it along with your full computer specs. What main software are you using that would not be "standard" (ex Window Blinds); what Anti-virus? What anti-malware? When did you run those last. How much defraggmented free space on your computer? When did you update the video drivers for your card/chip.

As for bloatware. You chose to buy a suite of programs with many functions. You could have chosen to buy just what you wanted such as stand alone versions of MyDVD, Photosuite, MyTV to Go, BUMP, DVD Copy2, Record Now (music), etc. Of course, once you chose a couple of those, you would have saved $$ by buying what you call bloatware.

If your computer doesn't far exceed the minimum requirements, it will be a slow runner when using the software.
