CD Spin Doctor 3.1t unexpectedly quits

crispian

Question

I'm new to the forum. I've had Toast Titanium 6.0.9 with CD Spin Doctor 2.0.2. It worked fine. I just purchased Toast Titanium 7.0 with CD Spin Doctor 3.0. When I tried to play old aiff files made with CDSD 2.0.2 or new aiff files with CDSD 3.0, CD Spin Doctor kept unexpectedly quitting, and I would get a dialogue box with that message. The files would play fine on my CDSD 2.0.2. I upgraded to Toast 7.1.2 with CDSD 3.1t. Same problem. Then CDSD 2.0.2 started quitting unexpectedly, too. I read the Roxio tech notes about proceedures to enact if Toast 7 crashes. I trashed the indicated Toast preferences and used Disk Utility to rebuild Permissions. CDSD 2.0.2 works fine now, but 3.1t still quits. When I play an old or new aiff file, CDSD 3.1t hesitates, crackles with noise as it starts to play the audio, then quits. I'm really disappointed and frustrated. Anybody know anything? How do I get the tech support from Roxio to fix this? Could it be a defective CD copy of the application that needs to be replaced by roxio? Thanks for any and all help. ---C.

Ok, I found the solution with the help of Roxann. I needed to place my Toast Titantium (including CD Spin Doctor 2.0.2) in the Trash. Then, everything worked fine. But geeze-louise, I spent an afternoon screwing around with this. The 7 step tech note did not include this step. There was no mention of the need to do this when I installed Toast 7. The general Roxann info didn't help. It was only when I posed a specific question to Roxann that I got a different answer. This was the long way around the block, and didn't feel particularly user friendly. But I'm glad I now have a solution that works. --C
