Thanks for your help....i read the discussion boards quite often, I'm envious of your vast knowledge of computers.......

We learned most of what we know about these programs from reading these forums and some experimentation on our own.

I learned what I know about computers by messing mine up constantly (without trying), and then fixing them. LOL

Your BIOS may disable it automatically. Most do, now. Check your users manual. There may be something in there about it.

Thanks, Walt. I figured it would. I am an ATI person, and the card that I have in this computer is the first Nvidia card that I have had in 6 years. :)

Further discussion on EMC9 video diagnostic failure when opening VideoWave. My card is a SiS650. It is built into the motherboard but meets EMC9 requirements. DirectX 9.0c and other minimums are also met. I get the 'failure' message.

Please tell me more about the 'chip' disable procedure in the bios and whether you feel this will resolve the issue as opposed to spending more money to install a new card. Thanks

You SIS more than likely does NOT meet the requirements of EMC 9. There are portions of DirectX 9 that EMC 9 uses, that your video card does not support, even though it supports some parts of DirectX 9.

You don't disable the onboard video chip UNLESS you have installed a dedicated video card.

Just installed EMC9, went into videowave and I get "video card will now be profiled" and then I get 'videocard diagnosis failed, unable to run"......any suggestions

That error message seems to suggest that your video card/drivers do not meet EMC 9 requirements. Please list your computer specs especially video card. Do you have DirectX 9c installed?

HP Pavillion AMD2800+, 2.08 GH, 1024 RAM, 80G hard drive, 160 external hard drive.

I have an AGP 8x 256 graphics card to put in, just not sure if I needed it or not, evidently, huh?

Do I need to uninstall Roxio EMC9 before I install a graphics card??

No, don't uninstall the software. Install the new video card, and install the latest video drivers for the card. What video card are you going to install?

Also, if the existing video is a chip, make sure that you disable it in the BIOS, if the computer does not do it automatically.

oh yea, the existing video is a chip, but I have no clue how to disable it in the BIOS

Actually that video card should work fine, I have the same card but with only 128MB of video memory and have no problems with the card. Make sure you have the latest drivers and DirectX 9c installed.
