For anyone who decides to read my lengthy post, Thank you in advance is in order!
Here goes:
I have two issues with creating slide show movies using Video Wave. The first has to do with transitions. Any transition I use comes out wrong. By this I mean when I play the movie on a dvd player or on my computer, the transitions do not complete. Each image looks pixelated. That is to say, if you watch one of my movies, the first picture transitions in but looks pixelated, as if the transition did not complete. Keep looking and when the first picture transitions away, it looks perfect for a brief moment before the second one appears. This repeats for all pictures. This makes all of my pictures look like I have tried to enlarge them to some unrealistic size. I tried to remove all transitions and then something really whacky happens. All my pictures in the movie flicker. Not much mind you, but they flicker. It is like looking at at a marquee or something. It is barely noticeable at the bottom of the picture but as you move up it becomes much more pronounced.
The second problem is with audio. I attempt to add background music and use Video Wave to set the movie length to the music length using its Fit Video and Audio feature. This never has worked for me. Movies that are no more than 10 minutes long with 3-4 songs in the background are never synchronized. The differences vary from 30 seconds to more than 2 minutes. The real pain is that it is not consistent. The same movie burned will be out 30 seconds on one burn, and then 1 minute or more the next time I try it. I have also given up on this feature.
I am running the latest version of EMC 8. Here are my system specs:
160 GB HDD
16X DVD R/W drive (+-R, - and + R)
AMD 64 Processor 3200
NVidia 256 MB PCI Express Video Card
SoundBlaster Live 24 bit sound card
Windows XP Pro SP 2 All updates including ActiveX 9c
All the above devices have all the updated drivers from the vendor.
I have also tried to create an ISO file and view it before creating my DVD. When viewing the ISO file, the above issues are much worse.
Again, anyone who took the time to read this post, thank you.
