The Highlander Posted December 5, 2006 Report Share Posted December 5, 2006 Dell offers factory installation for Vista Hardware giant Dell has responded to the launch of Microsoft’s Windows Vista by offering factory installation to speed business adoption of the new operating system. Dell said its latest server and storage products, desktops and notebooks had been designed and optimised for Windows Vista, along with Microsoft’s Office 2007 productivity suite and Exchange Server 2007. Business users with volume licensing agreements from Microsoft can now send their Windows Vista image to Dell for factory installation through the hardware giant’s standard imaging service. Other manufacturers have also responded to the Vista launch with new products and services. IBM announced new provisioning software that to speed up Vista deployments. The Tivoli Provisioning Manager for OS Deployment, based on technology gained from IBM's acquisition of Rembo, is designed to help IT departments automatically install or upgrade operating systems on thousands of servers, laptops and desktop computers simultaneously. LOL ! Dell's shipping systems might be ready for Vista but are the end users ? Frankly I just don't see the need for it.
