Slow Burner Speed

DavidP78

Question

My target max burn speed is 48.0X

My current burn speed is always between 6 and 8.4X

I recently reinstalled all of my software on my computer due to a nice virus I received. Well...I have the Roxio Creator 8 Suite Edition. I've had it before the virus. My burn speed used to be great. I could burn a full CD under 3 minutes. Now it's taking FOREVER! Can someone PLEASE tell me what is wrong with my pc????????? :)

"seek, sync, ATIP or mechanical positioning error"

That is a media problem and or a drive problem. Update the firmware for the drive, and try different media.

List the media ID and drive make and firmware. Use DVDInfo Pro to get the info. DVDInfo Pro in in v8 tools.

DMA Mode for ATA/ATAPI Devices in Windows XP

For repeated DMA errors. Windows XP will turn off DMA mode for a device after encountering certain errors during data transfer operations. If more that six DMA transfer timeouts occur, Windows will turn off DMA and use only PIO mode on that device.

In this case, the user cannot turn on DMA for this device. The only option for the user who wants to enable DMA mode is to uninstall and reinstall the device.

OK! I've done all of this and now I have an error that says "seek, sync, ATIP or mechanical positioning error"

I tried to burn a CD just to see if it would get any faster. Negative! I guess I'll have to reinstall the program...again! :)
