Edit recording put on DVD by harddrive recorder

Further to my post in the videowave section that I didn't get a answer to (pressumably because no-one new the answer).

I have a simpler question....

I'm sure many people want to do this....

I want to take a tv broadcast that I recorded on my dvd harddrive recorder, place it on my pc, remove the adverts & then re-burn on a DVD-R to keep.

I believe I need to turn the VOB files on the DVD-RW into avi or mpeg files that can then be used in Videowave for editing.

In the past I used some freeware software (rip.net & avi.net) to do this without issue.

However now I get the (no preview sympton) as described in the earlier post.

As I sure many people want to do what I'm doing, am I barking up the wrong tree!

This works most of the time but not in all cases…

 

Copy the VOB files to your PC and rename them to MPG.

 

Then do what you want.

Do you have IE7 installed? It breaks parts of EMC 7x. Don't know how it affects captures though . . . FWIW, I have never been able to get the file rename approach to work.
