backup my pc password

dale janus

Question

We are using stomp backup my pc version 5 build STP 101b32a on XP pro computers.

I am getting password errors when trying to schedule backups.

The xp computer has two administrator users and guest. The most often used administrator does not have password. Stomp will not back up without a password.

I would like to use the other administrator, which has a password. When I enter the other user and password, it says invalid or unknown user. It does not work with guest either.

Do I need to sign on as that user before I can schedule the job?

Once the job is scheduled, can it be run from the first user (who has no password) logged in? Or must I log in with the password user every time I want to run a backup (which is not practical).

Or must I assign a password to the user that is normally logged on in order to run a backup?

confused.....

The password inside of BUMP is to password protect the backup itself. Yes you have to be signed in with administrator rights to backup those files that are protected.

Here also is a special note in the help file:

Note: When scheduling a backup job in Windows 2000 Professional or Windows XP, Backup MyPC uses only your Windows username and password, not your network information. Therefore, please type your Windows username and password in the field: "Run job as if (it) were started by."
