Burning stops at 85%

Question

I am not a computer person, but I bought the EMC 9 because I wanted to put together a highlight video of our volleyball season. I had the game highlights on a DVD, so I imported them and they ended up in the "My Video's" folder. I then used Videowave to put together the highlights and clicked "Save As" when finished. It sent the production to "My Video's" folder. I then sent the production to MY DVD to try to burn it. It got to 85% complete and 87% encoded and then wouldn't do anything from there. I clicked on close and tried to use the disk copier to burn the individual clips I imported (I couldn't find the production). This wasn't successful either, as it stopped burning at 83% I believe. I am not at home to know what the specifics of my computer are, but was wondering if anyone would have any idea of what the problem might be.

I created a new compliations of clips using video wave and saved it as in ISO file (that is more than I could do with the last production). I then went into disc copier and looked under the source tab like you said, but I don't see "browse to disc image/ folder"

Is there anything you can do for the annoying pop up for the Sonic Cine Player Decoder Pack?

Can you do a test burn with another file to see if there is a problem with the file itself? Since you're not burning to disc, it's obviously not your burner so there's either a problem with the file or the system.

If you don't see the "browse to disc image/folder", you have something wrong with your installation. Are you running the Trial version?

This is what the paperwork said that came with my Dell Dimension 9100

Intel Pentium 4 Processor 630 (3 GHz, 800 FSB) w/ HT Technology 2 MB cache

512 MB DDR2 SDRAM at 533 MHz

128MB ATI Hyper Memory PCI-Express X 16 (DVI/VGA/ TV out) Radeon X300 SE

80 GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)

I bought an external dvd burner

I tried to follow your steps for saving my project as an ISO, but now when I go into Video Wave it stops responding. I have to use the Windows Task Manager to close Video Wave.

If you don't know how to work with firmware, you should get someone who does to help you.

As for an image file, when ready to burn your project, click burn and in the box that opens, uncheck the 'burn to disc' box and put a check in 'save image file' box. In the area below, click the browse button and select a directory to save and name your file. It will automatically add the .iso to the end. Then click burn.

When complete, open up Disc Copier and under the source, pulldown tab, go to 'browse to disc image/folder' and find your directory and file name and select it. On the right, you can choose the burner and other options. Then burn. You might want to buy a few DVD RW's to test with until we're sure your problem is solved.

Your system is similar to one I use at my office but I take new systems and reformat the drives and reinstall the OS from scratch. Is this problem happening with your external burner or an internal one....do you have an internal burner?

I restarted the computer and was able to open the Disc Copier. I selected the ISO file that I had saved and then selected the drive to burn it to. When I clicked on the copy now, nothing happened. Any ideas?

Under the Destination area, where you see 'Contents', what does it say when you insert a disc and wait a few seconds? And, is the 'Copy' button lit when you press it? Seems like DC doesn't know there's a disc in the drive.

It says "Blank Recordable Disc (DVD +RW). The copy button gets darker when you click on it, but nothing happens. I tried just copying a disc and that worked ok.

First, please post your system specs. Some things to check are to make sure your hard drive is defragged, and make sure you have the latest firmware for your burner and drivers for your video.

Were you burning to disc in MyDVD or to an Image File? You might want to try saving to an Image File (ISO) then using Disc Copier to burn that file to disc.

Maybe try a repair install of EMC9. I don't know what is causing your problem. Still think there's a conflict somewhere.

When I get home, I will post the system specs. I did defrag my computer, but how do I check to make sure I have the lastest firmware?

I was burning to a disc because I don't know how to save to an Image File.

OK. Do I do this thru "Add/Remove Programs"

Also, I have two discs that say Program Install this CD. Does it matter what disc I use?

Yes, run the uninstall programs and choose the 'repair' option. You shouldn't need your content cd. I can't remember but I think you will need the program disc.

I was on the "video compliation" link instead of the CD/DVD link. When I clicked on the CD/DVD link, I found the "browse to disc image" but when I clicked on it, that sonic cine player installation thing pops up and stops the disc copier from responding.

I am glad that you at least found it. I thought about you possibly being on the video compilation tab, some time after I posted, but I was already heading for bed, so I did not stop back. Sorry about that.

I have no clue on the Sonic Cineplayer popup. That should not be happening, and I have never seen it. :)

My external burner. I don't have an internal burner. I tried burning it to an ISO file and it stoped at 85 and 86% again.
