Video Effects

fhoss

Question

There were a number of video effects in EMC 7.5 that are not available in EMC 9 [such as Hemisphere]. Is there any way to convert, import, copy, etc. an effect from 7.5 for use in a EMC 9 production. If not, can one purchase more effects from Roxio?

Nevermind. I found that I had my rendering setting on "software". When I changed it to "hardware" the video effects I was looking for were available.

Be aware that you can or will have rendering problems ifyou force that setting to Hardware and your video card does not fully support DirectX 9 3D commands. Update your video card drivers and then re-run the Graphics test. If it stays on software, then the card does not support them.

Thanks. Actually I recently purchased a new video card. When I run the Graphics test the setting is on "hardware". I recently forced it to "software" because I was having a rendering problem. In a recent project [with the setting on "hardware] my menu would not encode but my movie would. A test movie suggested the menu would encode in the "software" mode. Not sure if I included a 3D video effect in the test. Could be a problem in rendering - may encode the menu but not the 3D video effect. I recently reinstalled EMC9 to see if that would help with the rendering problem. Have not encoded a new project yet to determine. Still a work in progress.

Thanks for your response.

You should try a short test with video clip and still images. Throw in a bunch of 3D stuff and try to render. Since the graphics test stays on hardware with the new video card, you should be ok.
