grandpabruce
I have version 6 but can't find where to convert avi to dvd I have never used version 6, but if it has DVD Builder, that is where you would burn that .avi to a disc, if you are not doing any video editing. If version 6 has VideoWave, that is where you would do any editing. I do know that version 6 does not support AC3 audio. I know that there are folks, who frequent these forums, who have version 6. Hopefully they will drop in and offer some help.
gi7omy
I think the sub-version of 6 that could do it was 6.3 - BUT, that was an OEM edition and was never released for sale to the general public. If memory serves, it came along just as EMC7 was launched and was limited to 3 drive makers who speciofically asked for it - again, it was the only version of 6 that supported dual layer discs but it was never made available as an update

Guest ml
What version would i need to convert AVI to DVD? I know that Movie Maker (VW 5) will convert and any of the FULL versions above that will convert it. HOWEVER, your computer must meet the specifications on the side of the box for encoding to mpeg2 (dvd). That usually requires a Pentium 4 or equivalent or higher. If you'd care to share your computer's specifications, we'll see if we see any problems with running EMC.

james_hardin
I am running a Dell Pentium 4 1.80Ghz with 512 MB of Ram Steve, I do not think you are grasping the whole concept of movie editing… You cannot simply throw a bunch of files onto a disc, it won't work. You start by selecting the type of project and that controls the output and structure as required for the type of project. You don't covert anything! Your editor controls all of that based on the type of project you have selected. You then add movie clips that can be in any format your editor accepts, avi, mpg, mov, wma, vob, the list goes on. While we are discussing basic, Movies are based on time and file size is a meaningless measure. A 4.7gb DVD will hold about 1 hour of a movie at best quality. Guest ml
I am running a Dell Pentium 4 1.80Ghz with 512 MB of Ram The basic process is that you put your avi movie on a storyboard in the VideoWave portion of the program. Then you do any editing that you want to do to the avi movie. Now I don't have that version, but you should then be able to select a button marked 'burn' or 'make movie'. That will open a program where your movie will be put on a menu. Then you hit 'burn' (or something similar) and the movie will be 'rendered' to an mpeg file and burned to a DVD that you can play on your DVD player. Now with a 1.8 Ghz computer, you're probably going to want to start that rendering process when you're done with the computer for the day. Let the program render and burn the DVD while you go do something else.
james_hardin
Unless I missed it, the OP has V6 and V6 doesn't have VW. V6 has absolutely nothing to convert any video format. Builder works with whatever format you feed it, but you have no option to save a file or output to anything but a Movie or ISO.
