Any one have any ideas? It looks like some virus is putting a read only on the discs. Any ideas?? I'm having the same problem with my machine and I don't have any viruses and I can't see why Roxio would need me to get rid of my divx codecs. I wish Roxio or Sonic would fix this problem because I'm tired of having to go out and buy new DVD+RW every time I use one to burn off a disc image or make a divx disc for my DVD players. They better get this issue fixed or I'm going to have to go out and buy some other burner software that will let me reuse my DVD+RW without leaving them as a open discs. wildcat44g
it never gave me problems when I install the software with my anti-virus protecting my computer before and I only run my main account that has my administrative properties (only have the 2 account administrator and the account I use which is the master account). I need the high level clearance to run most of my games and my gaming devices. I never had it not acknowledge a discs before in all the time I've been using it (Roxio easy creator 6, 8, and now 9). I've followed the on screen instruction and restarted after un-installing the old version and installing the new version. I've had probelms with Nero in the past with thier burner software conflicting with the roxio version that is embedded within windows xp itself that's why I've been using Roxio. I'd hate to have to put out another $100 just to get their latest version just to get my rewritables to erase so I can use them again.
wildcat44g
Everything else seems to work in it except for my issue with my RW discs not erasing so I can re-use them. I'm not sure if anything with the photo part works or not since I use Adobe to handle all my photo needs.

I'm not sure if anything with the photo part works or not since I use Adobe to handle all my photo needs. Could this possibly have anything to do with a Windows policy conflict ? Say something like an anti-virus program causing a disk access error or perhaps a user with limited access ? Also, did you turn off your AV when you installed 9 ? Moosehouse
Not sure If this is the same thing. Being Christmas and having some spare time on my hands I decided to clean up some RW discs I have. Removing some not longer files and adding newer ones. No problem, I thought. But every RW I put in tells me that there is no Free space left on any of them. If I format them, everything is fine and it goes back to being a RW disc. Then I put something new on and it's still ok. But If I remove the disk and put it back in the drive it goes back to being "no space free" again. I am using XP Home with Service Pack 2, (1.5GB Ram). Dell Pentium 4 Dimension 8300 and the Drive is a recently bought LG 16x Multiwriter Super Drive. I'm not saying it's anything to do with EMC9, but would like any ideas anybody may have. Thanks, Alan. Go no further - unless you are using Drag to Disc, you never 'format' a disc (even a RW one) Try going to tools and 'erase disc' - use the full erase to be safe and then yor disc will be back 'as-was' and fully writable RWs are very poor for backup purposes - the substrate is amorphous and will flow back slowly Drag to Disc, in common with all packet writing s/w is also a good way to lose data
wildcat44g
Lol Erase disc works? never worked for me and I've been loosing out in my DVD+RW's ever since I got EMC9 to replace EMC8. I've update all my software even though Roxio doesn't seem to even have a patch to fix their drag to disc and it's erase disc. I've even fallen back to using Alcohol 120% and still can't erase a single DVD+RW and go back to using them again. I'm out of at least DVD+RW and if this problem with the erase disc function doesn't get pathed or some way of it being resolved, I might as well just spend the $100 for Nero and get rid of EMC9 all together. I should have guessed it was buggy and too go to be true when I got EMC9 for about $80 instead of the normal $100. I guess I can save more money by getting another burner suite since all EMC9 seems to do is mess up DVD+RW's and any other Rewritable discs and make them as usable as write once discs. gi7omy
You still have me confused here when you refer to "their drag to disc and it's erase disc" Erase is nothing at all to do with D2D - it's a totally separate function

Be sure to have that Alcohol 120% running in the background, while you are trying to do things within the Roxio programs. If you have Daemon Tools, be sure to fire that up, too. Erasing discs works just fine for me. If you can't erase your discs with any program, I would think it is quite possible that the discs you are trying to erase have run out of life. wildcat44g
no it hasn't worked right with my DVD+RW's since I got it and replaced my roxio suite 8 with roxio suite 9 and I just bought 10 DVD+RW that are sony brand instead of the verbatim brand thinking it was a brand issue since I had those in the past with the DVD-RW's

Does anything in your EMC 9 work?
