DVD burn locks up system

Cpl Miller

Question

I have version 7 of Easy Media Creator. After I create a production then select burn to CD the application comes up, then I get a Microsoftw application error and the whole darn system locks up.

Pleas don't tell me I have to upgrade to some newer version!

Any help would be appreciated

Gary

If your system won't run the version you have now, there is no point in upgrading to a newer version that is more demanding, with respect to system specs.

List your system specs, similar to how I have mine listed in my signature.

Thanks grandpabruce for your fast reply,

First let me say that I have run this program before without any problems. I can't although remember if I ran it since I upgraded to XP a few months ago.

I'm running a PC clone that has a 2.2 MH montherboard and 512 ram.

I de-installed the entire application tonight, then re-installed it with the same problem error when I tried to burn my production. Funny thing is, my office computer is doing the same thing and it's a newer Dell desk top. The office system has the same version of OS, and the application.

That's why I thought the original copy I have, which IS registered had some expiration date stamp that disabled parts of the application making you buy an upgrade.

Your thought's?

Thanks

Gary

There is no "expiration date stamp" in the registered software.

Have you by any chance downloaded the update to Internet Explorer 7? That 'breaks' parts of EMC7.

It was a 'critical update' by Microsoft and since you're having trouble on both computers.......

The solution is to uninstall IE 7 and use IE 6.

There is no fix - MS changed the playing field (similar to what happened with ECD5 when XP SP2 was released)

As it's an older progran (two versions back from the current EMC9) there won't be a patch I'm afraid.

As suggested in other posts, you will have to roll back to IE6 - if you want a secure broswer, most of us use Firefox anyway

Sorry about that

Yes I do have on both systems IE 7. Are you saying the Roxio doesn't have a fix for the EI 7?

As the others have said.... No.

There are instructions on how to remove IE 7 and roll back to fix here.

You might want to ask Microsoft why they release 'critical' updates like IE 7 that breaks existing programs. EMC 7 is not the only program that they 'broke.'
