Playback Pauses on DVD

-kenl-

Question

During playback of DVD in a DVD player connected to TV, sometimes it will kinda "POP" then pause. If I hi\t pause and then play all is well. Sometimes I just lose the audio. Again if I pause/play it clears it up.

Again MyDVD EMC9. Had similar issues with 7.5 so I suspect it may be my hardware. The movie files play fine on the pc, so I know it's not them.

If I was to buy a new writer, anyone have a brand they like? :)

I have a similiar issue, I have been using the CD Creator Suite 6 with no problems making DVD's. Now I have upgraded to version 9 and the DVD's I am creating will play only on a pc, not any of my home DVD players. I get Disc Read errors... Same computer, same spindle of DVD's, and the same dvd players as before. The only difference is the software. That tells me there is something else going on here... Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Vince

Lets try this again, since someone keeps deleting my posts. I was having similar playback issues, but only with my TV player, Windows Media Player, and Sonic. PowerDVD was sucessfully able to playback the videos, so it is NOT necessarily a problem with your writer or disc media. That just leaves a software problem. However it would still probably be cheaper to buy a new more compatible writer than change the software, but it's something to consider.

PS - To whoever keeps deleting my posts, please send me a message as to how my post could be better worded to still help other users having similar problems. I don't want this to just keep getting deleted without any notice or reasonable basis.

None of your posts have been deleted! I found all 13 and have no idea why you keep saying that some have been deleted. What browser are you using? You should switch, because the one you are using now isn't working!

I'm using IE7. And I didn't make 13 posts to this topic, unless you meant 13 posts total. I think I made 2 or 3 posts on this topic that were deleted, I think because I mentioned Roxio's competetor. Your post shows up as post #7. The other posts still appear deleted whether I'm at work with IE7 or at home with IE6.

Of course I meant all of your posts, not just this thread. If the posts did not have anything to do with the thread, they were probably moved. Click on your name, then click on Profile Options, then click on Find member's posts. You will find all of your posts.

I'm still having this issue. On MY DVD player, I get pauses and Freezes. When this happens I usually hit pause then play and all is good.

On a sony player, it played the first movie, didn't return to the main menu and froze. Power cycle the player and reinserting the DVD is no help. Just sits there and spins the DVD.

Another one just spins the drive.

I CANNOT play this dvd using cineplayer.

DVDs are Maxell -r, DVD writer is Lite-On, and yes I just flashed the firmware on it, no help.

running XP-pro 1.5 gig memory, 2.6 gig Processor. Video drivers are current

This isn't only happening with just this DVD, It happens with others.

So, I'm wondering if there is something wrong with either the writer or the media.

If I were to replace my writer, what would you guys suggest?

What media is good?

For anyone reading this topic experiencing similar problems, I've discovered my posts were not deleted but were moved to the EMC9 trial version forum (even though the problems have nothing to do with the trial version). I was never notified which is why I thought the posts were being deleted. Whoever moved them put them in a topc called Audio/Video choppy. Happy reading.

I also have issues with Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 | Create DVD (which loads MY DVD 9). The DVDs it creates have compatibility issues with several commercial players (Samsung [no error - it just sits there and spins], Sony [takes many minutes loading, reading, finally plays]). I had no problem with Phillips or my PC. I use TDK DVD+R media. The default format is NTSC. I have a Dell Dimension running XP.

I suspect the Creator 9 software is the problem simply because it has terrible memory management (hangs up, forgets where it is or was, must be restarted periodically, gives random error messages and complains intermittantly about "corrupt" files and out-of-date firmware). I am not impressed.

You might want to add that you have the EMC 9 Trial Version of the software, not the full version. :)

I have no doubt you folks are experiencing the problems as you have stated, but you leave the rest of scratching our collective heads as to why…

I have been burning with V9 since it came out and the only issue I have seen is from a DVD+R that was not set to burn as a DVD-ROM. I changed the bit setting for that burner and it worked. – this only applies to 'plus' media and your burner must be capable of doing it.

Since David mentioned seeing random errors, I would think that there is something else at play there. I would start with Add/Remove Programs and select the Repair option. Also make sure the video drivers are up to date as well as the burner firmware.
