Unable to Launch Media Creator

Mountain Bound

Question

I have to say I have never had this much trouble getting a software to work IN MY LIFE. When I initally installed the software I encountered the "Buffer Overrun" issue and after much research at the time decided to just unistall the software and go back to EMC 6 -- which worked just fine -- despite the fact that I paid $70 for this new software that I couldn't use.

After receiving an email indicating that EMC6 was no longer going to be supported, I got back on the Roxio site and was pleased to see that there was a fix for the Buffer Overrun issue. So I uninstalled EMC6, reinstalled EMC9 and applied the patch according to all the directions. The good news (if there is any) is that I no longer receive the Buffer Overrun error message. Now, however, before the application fully launches I get a message indicating that "Media Creator has encountered an error and must close" and close it does.

Trying to get help -- well let's just say I'd rather go to the dentist. I follow all the technical support links only to be forwarded to the Sonic site which doesn't even list EMC9 as a problem I can get help for and although its implied that you can send an email....I was never given that option. Paying an additional $35 to actually speak to a person to get my software to run THE FIRST TIME is an insult.

I used to be a Roxio fan -- not anymore!

I share in this persons pain. Since purchasing and downloading EMC 9 I have wasted countless hours trying to make it work. I have done everything they recommend but all I can do I register the product and load the application only to seen again and again that Task Manager says "Not responding" I will give Roxio one last chance to make it work and then I plan to find another product even is I have to pay twice the amount and never get my money back from Roxio who BTW tried to screw me out of the $20 rebate when they said I did not provide proof of a previous purchase when all they had to do is chack their own records to see that I had purchased EMC 8, twice and EMC 9 once. EMC 8 did work for me with irritating glitches here and their but I was able to produce some DVD slide shows.

Anyone know of a better product not from Roxio?

Other than "my car won't start" you have given no indication of what the problems is. You have not even stated what you are trying to do. A listing of your computer specs especially video card would be very helpfull

Contacting them shouldn't be that hard. For EMC 9, this page has contact info that may help, and last i heard there is no charge for support calls re EMC 9 at this time.

You could also ask your fellow users here on this user forum for some help also. If you do that, please list your system specs, as that info can be very helpful to us in making suggestions.

Edit to say: I FOUND THE FIX BY ACCIDENT - JUST INSTALLED THE BUFFER OVERRUN HOT FIX AND IT TOOK CARE OF THE FOLLOWING PROBLEM

Hi,

I am having problems with my Music Disk Creator Application launching. When I try to start the application I get a box displayed that says "Please Wait....Loading Component"

On my task bar is an entry entitled Music Disck Creator - Untitled Project.

When I go into Windows Task Manager the application says it is Running - NOT Not Responding. In fact The CPU runs constantly at 50%. Am I in a loop?

When I right click and select Close, another box pops up that asks me "Save Changes to Untitled Project? Save:Don't Save:Cancel:

As if the project was there but the page simply was not displayed.

The really weird thing is that I had used the application earlier today and yesterday. Don't know what changed. I don't remember changing anything?????

I have run the repair feature in Add/Remove Programs to no avail.

Any idea what is going on?

Computer specs:

Dell Dimension 4600C

Pentium 4 3.2 GHz

512 MB RAM

Windows XP Professional SP2 - all updates on

Intel 82856G Graphics Controller

Soundmax Integrated Digital Audio
