need help...upgraded to EMC9 from EMC 6

mutt1961

Question

Hello,

I have upgraded to EMC 9 from EMC 6,and am having major problems, and need help.

My first question is..where is audio central?? that was a great player..why does roxio not have audio player in EMC 9?

All my audio files, stored on my hard drive, will only open in windows media player, where as with EMC 6,they would all open with audio central.

Is EMC 9,pretty much just for burning cd's as far as audio goes?

What about if you want to convert wav files to mp3,and listen to them, via,a roxio player? is that impossible now?

Any help with this very complicated EMC 9..would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Well, I don't suppose you have ever bought something that was highly recommended..plus the fact, that a company like sonic/roxio,would include something as good as audio central.

I never had the opportunity to use Audio Central but from what I understand, it was very good. Unfortunately Roxio and the subsequent owner Napster decided that it was not. :D

The all-in-one player in EMC 9 is called Digital Media Experience (DME) reached from the home>applications page.. Some like it, some don't. It is a bit bloated because it is supposed to do everything (audio and video). If you select music, there are several options including building your own playlist. I use it mostly to listen (and sometimes capture-via Easy Audio Capture) on-line music through the free live365.com service (free service includes a few commercials). :)

BTW, once DME is opened, you can shut down EMC 9 and that application will continue to run.

I know that. at first glance, that the program is overwelming. For now just stick to the basics. In most cases, there are the full applications like Music Disc Creator but there are also "Assistants" reached through the drop down tabs that make most jobs simple.

You need to spend some time with the EMC 9 manual. There is no Audio Central and there has been no Audio Central for the past 4 versions of EMC. (EMC 7, EMC 7.1, EMC 8 & EMC 9)

The answer to your other questions is yes, but there is not point in posting anything until you actually open the software. :):D

I have opened the software and installed it,and wanted to thank you for your answer.

This is not the software I had wanted at all...way,way,too complicated.

I was very happy with EMC 6,the only drawback, was it would not see my video capture card.

Oh well,it was only a waste of good money.
