Waterland
I have a new Lenovo computer (2 weeks) I have been copying DVD's of our families old homemovies. I have copied several and now I keep getting an error message that I need 4.4 GB of space, please check drive to make sure space is available. I have tried to delete every file I have and with no luck it is still the same message. In the Roxio Copy, it says it saves it to a temporary file on the drive. Does is delete the file when you finish copying it? I don't need to save any of the information once I burn a new DVD. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the old files (If they are still on the drive) or how to free up space in the file. I know it works because I have copied at least 25 DVD's movies. Thanks Steve

Thanks Steve You don't give the specs of your computer so I don't know what the size of your hard drive is but 25 movies in full DVD size is alot. I hope you defrag often. First thing to do is to right click the drive in My Computer, go to Properties and choose Drive Cleanup. This should remove most temporary files. I think by default the temp files are in the C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Temp directory.

Thanks Steve You need to invest in an external hard drive e.g. Western Digital, Buffalo to save your home movies. I have 2 Western Digital, 1X250GB and 1X350GB Also I back up onto discs as well so I have 2 back ups just in case.

I second that! Backup drives are cheap and getting cheaper. If the OP is that much into copying movies, more large drives is a no brainer.

Thanks Steve It's supposed to delete the temporary file, but we'd need a bit more information about how you copied those DVDs. Did you use Disk Copy to copy the files or DVD Builder? An easy thing to try is defragmenting your hard drive. If you don't have enough 'contiguous' space, you can get that message.
