EMC 7 I/O Device Error?

Warpaint

Question

I've made numerous DVD's, CD's with EMC 7 7.1.1.189, on a Dell 4550 XP SP2 and everything has always gone great, and it still is as long as I stick to cd's or DVD's. Now, for the first time I am trying to burn a DVD Data Disc, the burn goes well, no errors etc, but none of my drives recognize it after it's done? My picture DVD's all play fine in my player, music cd's burn and play fine (all various formats and media), it's only when I try to burn a data disc, or copy files to disc and then go to play them or explore them do I get the message (F:\ is not accesible, The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error). I've tried every kind of media from R- to RW+, and numerous brands that are all recomended from Plextor for my PX-708UF2 external DVD drive? I know I have all current firmware, all updates needed and everything else I think I need, and the really odd thing is that some of the old ones I've done work, and some don't? It's not a crisis or anything, but my usual pride at being able to figure things out is kind of poor right now because I am flat stumped. I know my system and EMC 7, and my DVD burner are getting older by the second, but it's all been so good for me in the past, and I've never had a problem one, so this particular problem is new ground for me. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

What program did you use to burn the data disc? Creator Classic is the program that has always been rock solid.

Hi Bruce!

Thanks for the reply! Well, I'm not sure what it is actually called, but it's on the Roxio Easy Media Creator Homepage, and then I just click on the link under Data that says "Copy Files To Disc". I have never tried the Creator Classic. I will sure give that a try and see what happens. Do I need to do anything at all to Project Settings, or click Data Disc under common projects? Thank you so much!!!!

Plextor PX-708UF2 external DVD drive

I have owned many Plextors they have a self diagnostic mode, but I have never owned a USB model!

Get the manual out and look for the self diagnostic mode.
