Can't write to a CD-RW after formatting

mikejgrif1

Question

Hi. I'm having a problem with copying files to a CD-RW. After I format the disk and try to copy files to it, the computer says the CD-ROM is full. When I do a properties on the CD, it in fact shows that the disk is full. I am using version 7.5 of Roxio. I am certain there is a setting I need to change to fix this, but I don't know what it could be. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Two possible things that can be interfering… IE7 breaks Roxio V7 – Rollback to IE6!

Your Eject Settings may be closing your media without you realizing it.

There are 2 places to set it to be able to write to the media:

Don't forget the one under advanced Eject Settings.

You should be aware that packet writing has proven to be the least reliable form of burning ever devised! Never trust it for any sort of backup or archive. The more important the data, the faster it seems to lose it!

Thanks for the help James. For some reason the settings on the write once disks got changed and this affected the re-writable cds even though the setting for it didn't change. I changed the setting back and I had to reboot in order for the rewriteable disks to work properly again. Oh, and thank you for the tip on IE7, I hadn't upgraded to that yet and now I know to hold off until I get a newer version of Roxio. Once again, I really appreciate the help!

I need to update that picture! As I recall with V7, the Eject settings don't seem to stick.

I have the 'Show Eject dialog~~' checked on mine so I can always make sure I select the "Use the disc in this computer only".

I have not encountered a need to ever Close the disc for another PC to read it. Of course once Closed, it is indeed Closed!

Play with a RW disc a little to make sure it is working as you expect it to.
