Prior to installing REMC 9, I could insert a blank CD in my CDRW/DVDRW drive and windows would ask if I wanted to open a writeable CD folder. If I would say, "yes", the folder would open and I could drag files into the folder and then tell Windows to "Write these files to the CD." After installing REMC 9, when I place a blank CD in the drive, Windows just opens a window that is labelled "Blank CD." If I drag a file into this window, bad things happen. It appears that the file is written to the CD. The Window for the CD is now called "Roxio" instead of "Blank CD" and the drive icon in Explorer is now called something like "Roxio CD" instead of "CD/DVDRW." However, if you try to move on, you realize that what has happened is that Windows Explorer hangs, the entire operating system hangs, and I have to simply power it down to get out of this fix. On ReBoot, things work fine. If I now place this same CD in the drive (or any one of two other optical drives in my system) I can now see that the file was written to the CD. However, if I now either remove the CD from the drive, or simply try to close the window, the operating system hangs again and I have to power it down to reboot. Now if after a fresh reboot, I start REMC 9 and then place a blank CD in the drive (or any of the other drives for that matter) I can use REMC 9 to burn a file to the CD without any trouble at all. Any clue as to what is going on here? This is a Windows XP Pro Dell Dimension 8250 vintage 2002 running Service Pack 1. Can I no longer burn a CD by dragging files to it and using Windows Explorer to burn the CD? I like to do simple data CD's this way and would like to keep it. I wanted REMC 9 for DVD projects.
