Christmas gift that may be going back - message - "Could not complete the last command because: unknown error"

I have installed software three times with same result - can anyone help

Very little information to go on!

First of all what are your system specs? We don't even know if your system is capable of running EMC 9.

Then, at what point do you get the error message? Its even unclear if you have been able to install the package.

I got the same problem. The DigitalMedia plus on my new DELL E1705 worked. After I uninstalled and reinstalled on Chinese language codepage, the same message appeared just behind the "SONIC" bitmap appeared when I launched the executing file. Then I reinstalled it on English codepage, it worked fine. I do believe that I need to install on Chinese codepage to let the files with Chinese filename be burnable. Am i wrong? any update patches?

Sorry, running Windows XP, Home Version, with all kinds of space available. Installed the program disk as instructed. Everything seems to load ok. When I click on the icon I get the unknown message

Did you disable the AV when installing EMC ? If not I'd try uninstalling it, reboot the system, disable AV and then reinstall EMC.
