Problem saving the video to the computer

I guess it seems to be an encoding problem. Anything I can do about that?

I don't think so. If your computer cannot do the decoding and encoding, you're out of luck.

I think the problem lies in the CPU - it just doesn't have enough clout to handle the processing needed.

The older Semprons were a cut down version of the Athlon and were missing things like hyper-transport and possibly also some of the other refinements that were on the Athlons.

Thanks, Daithi. I have a Pentium 4 and don't know the AMD processor capabilities.

The AMD website shows what type of processor to buy here.

You said that if you don't edit the video, the program will encode to an mpeg1 video, but if you edit the video it won't encode. I think that has to do with the processors ability to decode, then encode the video. However, it could also be something as simple as a transition that the computer cannot encode.

A test would be to take the video, split it to remove some of the video, DO NOT use any transitions, text, special effects, etc...... then try rendering that video. If it won't render the video, then you've got an encoding problem. If it will encode, then you've got a problem with the transition, effects, text, etc.

However, you need to know that when you're encoding to a file to be played back on your computer, it is not a quality that you'll be able to record to a DVD in the future and have a quality that you'll be able to view on a TV. So please don't destroy your original video.

Thanks for all the help guys. Ml I tried doing what you suggested. I made a backup copy of my original production, took out all transitions, effects, and music, and then split and cut some clips. After that I tried to render and it still didn't work, so I guess it seems to be an encoding problem. Anything I can do about that?

Whenever i try to save my current project to my hard drive and click render, the EMC 7 does nothing. The video is unable to be rendered and after 20 minutes im forced to close the program. Any suggestions?

Could you describe exactly the process you took for rendering the video? I assume you you are in videowave since you are posting in this section. Is this a completed project you are rendering to your hard drive? Please explain the steps used.

Sorry about that, I'll explain everything in detail. I started by clicking the timeline tab and then inputing video clips and a song. After that, I used the "split" option to divide the video clips. When I finished editing, I clicked File -> Output Production To... -> Video File -> Playback to Computer -> Render. This is a complete project. I noticed that if I input a video that hasn't been edited in any way, I am able to render the video file. But, whenever I edit a video clip, VideoWave doesn't seem to render the video.

If you're choosing Playback on this computer, I think you get an mpeg1 file which is not good quality.

Could you please post the specifications of your computer? That might help in figuring out why it's not rendering.

Of course, it could be rendering. It's a process that takes more than 20 minutes. Is the indicator light on your computer flickering, a solid light or not lit?

My computer specs are:

Compaq Presario AMD Sempron Processor 3200+

991 MHz

1 Gig of RAM

NVIDIA Geforce 6150 LE

If I'm missing anything important please let me know. Also, Ive tried running the program for 20 minutes but I don't even see the progress bar move at all. It stays at 0%. Is it maybe because I edited the video in the wrong way?
