1. ok i open up MyDvd8

2. add the files i want to be burnt (6 movies)

3. i seperate the movies into 6 seperate scenes.

4 i edit the menu header and movie file titles in the face window

5. click on the burn icon

6. i make sure burn to disc is checked, the correct drive is selected labled disk etc. and click burn icon at the bottom

7. this is where i get the error during the encoding process of the 1st movie... under this is a picture of the runtime error box that pops up and closes MyDvd8 in the process of encoding..

You have a slug of progrms running in your tray. LOLLOL! Six movies? What is total length of time? Get rid of the viruses, spyware/malware that you have on your computer from using Limewire. :)

my comp is clean, i run a virus and spyware check every 2 days.. plus i have no files from my limewire anymore.. its just there to take up space lol

oh and the 6 movies thing, its more like 6 episodes so about 3 hours total or so... but when i check to see if theres any more space on the disk it says theres about another hour worth of space on it... this is prior to clicking the burn icon..

if anyone can really help me with my problem id really appreciate it because i feel like i wasted my money on this and im just gonna buy another dvd burning software if i cant get any help...

Reboot, shut down the processes you don't need, that you have running in your tray, then try again.

Please provide the detailed steps that you were doing from start up to the point you were getting error. And the program names you used in every step.

3 hours of video on a DVD when a DVD only holds 60 minutes at best quality? :)

Why not just burn to an image file using only one "movie" initially as a test to get around the encoding problem. Of course there might be a problem with the source files that causes your error.

i tried that but still dont see any improvment.....

Please post your computer specs. Put them in your signature by going through "My Controls" at the top of this page. How much free space do you have on your hard drive?

Try this, open VideoWave and drag one of the files to the production. Output that file (film reel icon) to a mpg2 for DVD. If the file doesn't encode, then there is a problem with it. If it does, add all of the files to VideoWave and out put them the same way. Use the mpg2 file in MyDVD. If you want separate chapters, select the file and then select make chapters (right click). Put your chapter makes where you want them. The DVD will play from the selected chapter to the end unless you use the remote to return to the menu.

My suggestion; never use the assistants if you are doing anything other than the basics. From the Home page, select the applications and use the programs listed on the left side. To create slide shows and or edit or create video projects, use VideoWave. To create menus and to burn to a disc, use MyDVD. For earlies users of MyDVD (before V8) using MyDVD for both was the only options; Now with V8 and V9, use both VideoWave and MyDVD to compliment each other.

It is also easier to diagnose problems like yours if you don't use the Assistants.

You might also consider using Windows > Start > Run> msconfig> Start up tab> to disable the programs that load and that are "just taking up space". Do you really need mother board monitor running at all times? I can't tell what else there is that load on start up and don't show or that don't show all the processes.
