iPod Conversion no good

Question

Imported an MPEG2 file to VideoWave; GSPOT reports the attributes as:

Container

MPEG2 program stream << {1vid,1aud}

Sys bitrate: 8000 kb/sVBR

Audio MPEG-1 Layer 2 0xc0:48000Hz 192 kb/s tot , Stereo

Video MPEG2

Picture 544x576

File size: 2.855GB

Edited the file and output in the default iPod settings; GSPOT reports attributes as:

Container

File Type: MP4 (.MP4) [iSO 14496-14:2003]

Mime Type: video/mp4

Recommended Display Size: 320 x 240

Audio MPEG-4 AAC LC 48000Hz 128 kb/s tot (2 chnls)

Video avc1 H.264/MPEG-4 AVC

Picture 320x240

File size: 5.355GB

The latter file imports into iTunes (v7.0.2.0.6) ok and plays in iTunes ok.

The file will NOT transfer to the iPod (latest brand new version), I get a message saying it will not play on the iPod.

Any ideas?

Also; why is the iPod file so huge?
