fixing renamed files

jimmyrigger

Question

I am fairly new to EMC 9 and have encountered a problem with some files that I renamed. The next time that I opened the program it tells me that it cannot find the files. I tried renaming the files to their original names to no avail. Surely there is a way to recitify this problem without starting over.

Thanx alot guys for your fast help. I was using videowave when I had the problem. I was able to fix it finally with the Locate Files button which I either had overlooked or just did not have the patience to try after Browsing did not work. Never fear, I will not be renaming or moving files midproduction again.

I am definitley learning the program the scary, hard knocks way :)

Glad you got everything straightened out jimmy. One thing I always do is place ALL of every piece of information and files in the exact same folder and also save any productions (dmsm etc.) to that same folder. that way it's very easy to know exactly where everything is without having to change to a different folder to find a certain photo, audio file or video.

First question---What program in EMC 9 are you using ? What ever that program might be, when you first produced a program that had a particular file with a particular name and that resided in a particular folder, and then you saved all that. Then you change the name of the file, the program will go crazy looking for that first name. There is an option in videowave that will let you "browse" for a missing file, but even then it always looks for the file with the original name.

Not sure however if you re-changed the file back to it's original name and same extension and it is still in the same folder, why it would see that. Make sure the file is in the exact same folder with the exact sme name and extension and has the same attributes.
