DeeJay
I just installed Easy CD and DVD Creator 6 and am having a problem with Drag-to-Disc. After formatting and using a CD-RW with Drag-to-Disc, this happens: when I shut down WindowsXP, a message pops up telling me Drag-to-Disc is preparing the disc for shutdown. I have to wait about 2 or 3 minutes for this to finish and then I have to shut down WindowsXP again. I have never had this problem with other packet-writing programs (either DirectCD or InCD). I have tried altering the settings for Drag-to-Disc but the problem persists. Has anyone dealt with this issue before? Thanks, DeeJay

Do you have any other software on your system that will try to write to the drive? Sonic DLA, Nero InCD, Alcohol 120%, AnyDVD, Direct CD. Just ONE packet writing program is all. You do realize Drag2Disc is great at permantly LOSING you files - as are ALL Packet-Writing programs.
james_hardin
If you chose Quick Format it is a combination of that and the fact XP holds info until the disc is ejected. You should never leave a D2D disc in the PC unless you want to see how fast it will become unreadable! When you write to one, eject it.
DeeJay
I have used DirectCD on two Gateway computers to back up Quicken files on a CD-RW for the past 5 years with absolutely no problems whatsoever. No other packet writing programs are active on my system (I've gone through MSCONFIG and disabled InCD from starting). I'll try doing a full format rather than quick format and see if that helps. I've always just left my Quicken CD-RW backup in my other computers and its never been an issue. Anyway, thank you for your input. I'll keep experimenting. I hear that all the time, at least until they fail... Hope you never need any of those backups.
lynn98109
I would never again use Packet-Writing. It is NOT a "great-big floppy-disc". However, it's a great way to permantly LOSE data. (written in memory of the 80% of the data on the Packet-Written CD-RW which was not also on the Hard Drive, and was permantly lost) Lynn
DeeJay
James: I think your suggestion helped. I did a full format on the CD-RW instead of the quick format that I had been using. With the full format shutdown is normal with no delay. Regards, DeeJay
