Bristol Herb
my CD library track numbers are not in sequence. For a 13 track CD, track 1 is followed by 10, 11, 12, 13, then 2,3, thru to 9. it looks like its sorting on the first digit only. The only way i've found to correct this to edit each track number 01,02 etc.. this will take for ever! When I first installed the software the tracks were always in the correct sequence this changed some time ago and I've tried to correct it many times. Can anyone help? Since it is night where Brendon is at the moment - he may want to add info when he's back - .mp3 is basicly data, unlike Audio CDs. So data rules (alphanumeric) apply - altho numeric can be used to displace alpha. Some mp3 players will accept an .m3u playlist, but that depends on the player. Brendon
Hi, Brendon.Easy creator 6, file version 1.0.0.117, audio central, using XP pro, sp2. Libray using MP3s only. Herb, How are you getting your MP3s into your library? Since you said "For a 13 track CD, track 1 is followed by 10, 11, 12, 13, then 2,3, thru to 9" I presumed that you must be pulling the tracks off a CD, into MP3 format in the library using File > Copy CD Tracks to Library (Ctrl + R), which rips the selected tracks from off the CD into MP3 format and puts them into the library. Now I've spent a couple of hours first with my earliest version, 6.0.0.171 (the version number is by convention taken from Creator Classic using the Help > About Creator Classic buttons) and then with my latest version (6.2.0.111) just in case something changed with the updates. I've run both versions against 4 CDs. Three of them had more than 10 tracks, and one had only 10. In every case when I copied the CD tracks to the library, they have copied to MP3 files with two-digit numbers, such as: 01 - All I want.mp3 04 - Carey.mp3 10 - The last Time I Saw Richard.mp3 01 - Dancing in The Street.mp3 11 - Glad to be Unhappy.mp3 16 - For The Love of Ivy.mp3 01 - Kon-Tiki.mp3 11 - Chattanooga Choo Choo.mp3 16 - See You In My Drums.mp3 (extra points if you picked Joni Mitchell, The Mamas & The Papas, and The Shadows - grin) Anyhow, there was no way when putting the songs into the library that I could get them to save to mixed-digit numbers so that you got 1, 10, 2 . . . They were always saved as double-digit numbers with a leading zero where needed. How are you getting it to do something different? If you are ripping to MP3 from an audio CD using Audio Central you should always be getting names as above with double-digits. If you're getting the MP3s from somewhere else and adding them into your library, then the problem lies with the names they are getting at their source and not with Audio Central. HTH Hi, Thanks for your efforts, if I play a CD using the Roxio Audio central player and I like it I copy it to my library as an MP3 using the 'copy tracks to library' icon at the bottom the the player screen. remember in the past all of my tracks have been numbered in the correct sequence. If i look at the tracks in the track Tags editor they are numbered as you have described above with a 2 digit number starting 01. The tag editor screen shows the selected track on the left side of the screen with the 2 digit number and name. on the right hand part of the screen in grey the first box is Track the track number in this box is only a single digit for numbers 1 - 9. I have changed this number to a 2 digit number and the track appears in sequence. As my original message stated, this would take for ever to update every track I have. Thanks for your help. Regards, Herb.
