80004003 Error While Aborting

Mattnz

Question

I am trying to burn my first edited movie to DVD, and the whole thing encodes, movie, menu etc, but right at the end, I get 'Error 80004003; Error while aborting.'

I am using a Dell Inspiron 6400, with 1gb RAM, and plenty of hard disk space remaining.

I have seen other articles suggesting a firmware upgrade for my DVD drive (NEC ND-6650A), but I cannot find the correct firmware for my version. There are firmware upgrades on their site, but not for my version.

Can anyone help me get past this problem?

Thanks in advance,

Matt :)

I've had this same error/issue. I came here looking for help as well. I do notice that when in edit mode there is a lock icon indicating a "locked chapter" on the files I was trying to work with. They still allow you to create chapters and edit but I think the key lies in the unlocking fo the locked file. Anyone know anythig about this?

I have managed to get this fixed.

I upgraded my burners firmware, and I still had the problem.

I created an image file with the video, and that created fine.

It wasn't until I tried to burn this image to disk, that I found out what was wrong.

The error that showed up was a 'Sense Code Error,' and after searching Roxio's support page, I found a useful page of Troubleshotting tips, and followed these.

In the end, it turned out that the brand of DVD's I was using were not compatible with my burner.

I was using 'Transonic' a little known brand of DVD, and after searching on the burners site, I found a list of compatible DVDs. I purchased a pack of TDK DVD+R, and now I am having no trouble burning my projects.

Did you ever get this to work? I have got the same error message. I can create DVD +rw discs, I can create some DVDs with +r media, but sometimes the same +r media does not work. I have tried 6 brands of DVD +r media. Basically all DVD with video based mpg files work, dvd with videos based on picture based mpg files fail.

I too am getting a 80004003 error msg, in addition to encoding msg. I cannot burn a movie project. 1st error msg...encoding, unrecoverable error while trying to burn. Could see the files in "preview" showing encoding up to 94% range. Tried RoxAnn suggestions. Went into Device Mgr. checked IDE/ATA/ATAPI controllers to make sure DMA showed. It dd. Uninstalled/reinstalled burner driver. Tried to build in MyDVD. Checked image file box in MyDVD. Got failed to start image writing operation 80004003 error. Checked to see if drivers up to date. They are. The burner works fine in drop/drag or file copy. It will simply not burn movie project. Computer is HP notebook, AMDS turion 64 mobile chip. XP OS.

Using Maxwell DVD-RW.

Anyone know how I can get this software to burn?

You've just posted to a 5 month old thread and no-one has been back since January.

Post in a new thread and give your computer specs, what you are doing, what you are doing it with and any error messages
