dvd builder

joanna j

Question

I have read through the forums and seem to be having the same problem as many other people. Whenever I attempt to burn the dvd I get a message that it has to close. Also, I attemped to burn a copy of a dvd (with personal videos, not a movie), and it said that the blank dvd was not compatible. I am using DVD-R. SHould I be using DVD+R? Finally, how can I check to see if I am running IE7? And if I am, how do I revert back to IE6?

I too am having trouble with The DVD builder/ DVD copier not recognizing

blank dvd-r disks when I try to burn a disc. I just upgraded my store bought

EM7 to the newest, and I had to run the patch to get it notice my drives.

My Writter is an Nec Optiarc 7107a. Someone mentioned that some times the

Ribbon cable connecting the cd roms to the mother board should be 80 conductor,

not 40. Has anyone else heard of this ?

Would really like to know more about the Builder Project… Details on the source files, settings, things like that.

Also like to know the specific burner you have and firmware version. Open Classic and click on Tools – Disc and Device Utility. Expand the Device Properties for that drive.

While there (Classic) click on Help – About and tell us the exact version number you have installed.

You can try running the Repair option from Control Panel – Add/Remove Programs. That may make you feel good, but I have little hope for it.

I have a SONY DCR-DVD405 video camera that records to the small DVDs. I opened EMC-7 and captured the videos from the DVDs. I tried just putting one video into a project and that didn't work either, but ultimately, I had added audio to the project as well. I am using DVD-Rs to try to record onto. I realized that I am not only having a problem with DVD Builder, but with trying to copy DVDs as well. I'm not sure if I should try DVD+R.

I have:

emachines

T2625

AMD Athlon XP 2600+

2.12 GHz, 480 MB of RAM

As for the Microsoft Windows:

Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519: Service Pack 2)

for my device:

Name: DVD_RW ND-1300A

Type: CD-R?RW

DVD+R/RW

DVD-R/RW

DVD-ROM

Firmware revision: 1.05

It makes no difference for old CD drives, but for any DVD writer, the 80 wire/ 40 pin ribbon cable is what you want, for Ultra DMA Mode 2, or above, to be enabled. It is the same type of ribbon cable as the one that your IDE hard drive is connected to the motherboard.
