Question

When using MyDVD (Deluxe Studio) - I import a MPEG clip from my videos - when I go to edit the clip I notice that only about 20 seconds of the clip is available (when actaully it is a 6 minute clip). This has never happened before and I have had many large video clips. What could be the problem?????

I had exactly the same problem when transfering a MPEG file into MyDVD. Although the MyDVD I have is 7 and 7.5 and came with the camcorder Canon DC10. The file was also created by the camcorder. In my case it was transfering only 8-9 seconds. I posted the problem here, but got no useful help so far.....not even from the Roxio support team....

Now it seems it is a common problem with the software.....

No - I have tried previously legnthy clips again - and they (as well) are cut short. When before - the entire legnth of the clip was made available and not it is not...???

What changed on your computer? IE 7 or WMP 11? How much free and defraggmented space do you have on your hard drive?

You listed MYDVD Deluxe Studio as your software. I can't find that. Do you have Easy Media Creator Version 8 Deluxe Suite or MyDVD Version 8 Essentials or Premier? If you have EMC 8 Deluxe Suite, open VideoWave and add one of the videos there. Do you see the entire video?

Is it possible that the original video clips were accidentally overwritten? If you use something like WMP (lower then 11) does the entire clip play? What is the size of the AVI or mpg2 files? For example, on my computer one 1 gig AVI file is about 6 minutes; a different 1 gig mpg2 file is about 20 minutes.

You can try doing a Windows Install/repair but i don't think that is the issue. As you can imagine, you problem is unique and it will take some Q&A to find a solution.

Since it never happened before, I would guess that the original clip was defective. Where did you get it; what format, etc. Please give us a little more detail. If you add the clip and then right click on the video and select edit movie, is that where you see that it is only 20 seconds?

This is not the Roxio support team but just users like you. EMC 7/7.5 do not have myDVD so I don't know exactly what program you are talking about. Also if your software came with the camcorder then it most like is a limited version of EMC wioth some features disabled.
