Windows XP Pro x32 or x64

RIVKID

Question

Now that the price of 64 bit CPU chips has come down to my price point, and the Microsoft Agreement with my company allows me to purchase the OS rather inexpensively, I am looking at the possibility of upgrading to Windows XP Pro x64.

My question is: Is there a substantial benefit to EMC8.05 users when using x64 rather than x32?

TIA (Thanks In Advance!)

EMC8 will install and run in the 64 bit OS - there's no real difference in performance really

There is a lack of 'true' 64 bit programs tho - you'll find that when you install the 64 bit oS you have two 'Program Files' folders - one for x86 and the other for IA64.

Personally I never found much difference between the 32 bit and 64 bit OS (except some programs just refused to run).
